MILSET Expo-Sciences International (ESI) 2013 in Abu-Dhabi. fantastic!!! The 14th MILSET Expo-Sciences International took place on September 13-19, 2013, in Abu-Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This traditional non-competitive MILSET event was hosted by the Abu-Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET). The ESI 2013 brought together more than 1500 talented children and youth - authors of successful projects in science and technology, selected on the national level in more than 50 countries around the world. It was a spectacular celebration of cultural, scientific, technological, innovative and human diversity, which was visited by more than thirty thousand children, students and adults. The ESI 2013 was officially opened by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al- Nahyan, Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, who visited the youth projects and left strongly impressed by the overall high level of the projects presented by the students. In the course of the event the young participants attended lectures and workshops, while the delegation leaders could join the Sharing-Experience Conference on the subject of "Governmental and Non-governmental Organizations: Cooperation in the Sphere of Scientific and Technological Education". As part of the ESI 2013 MILSET held its General Assembly and regional General Assemblies, Executive Committees and Board meetings. At these meetings some very important decisions were made, such as: Creating a MILSET Strategic Planning Working Group and approving the new MILSET Anthem. Apart from the scientific and business programs, the participants got the opportunity to join interesting mini-tours around the city, to take part in the Cultural Evening at the Convention Centre of ADNEC (Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre), where the organizers managed to present the culture at the highest possible level, bringing a real desert to the hall. At the Closing Ceremony of the ESI 2013, organisations, delegations and personalities were granted with the traditional MILSET Awards for their contribution to the movement. This year the organizers asked the visitors of the ESI 2013 to vote for their favourite projects in each of the 13 categories. As the result 13 projects were given People's Choice Awards at the Ceremony. All the students and delegation leaders were recognized by MILSET with the participation certificates and medals. And the MILSET flag was officially passed to the representatives of Jeunesses Scientifiques de Belgique, Brussels, Belgium, where the MILSET Expo-Sciences International 2015 is going to take place. After the Closing Ceremony, all the participants enjoyed a visit to the Ferrari World - the world famous theme park, which was a brilliant final point of these unforgettable 6 days. So, it was a pleasure to share these days with you in Abu-Dhabi, I am looking forward to meet the great international MILSET family again in 2 years in Brussels! Roberto Hidalgo |

MILSET Awards 2013 At the ESI 2013 the traditional MILSET Awards were given to organisations, delegations and personalities Derek Gray Medal was given to Alexander Leontovich (OODI, Russia) Enrique Padilla Award was given to the ACITEAK (Venezuela) MILSET Voluntary Award was given to Jose Alberto Tenorio (RED, Mexico) MILSET Best Website Award was given to Jeunesses Scientifique de Belgique (Belgium) ESI Best Delegation Award was given to all delegations from Malaysia ESI Culture Award was given to all delegations from Paraguay Young Scientists Award was given to the delegations from Czech Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia and Venezuela Ulzahan Yessirkap Excellence Award for Girls was given to Fouzia Al-Mansouri and Muna Al-Hammadi (UAE) |

| The international Editorial Board of JOSE - MILSET's new Journal on Science Education was elected and has started working on the mission, the structure and the content of future issues. Sharing-Experience Conference "Governmental and Non-governmental Organisations: cooperation in the Sphere of Scientific and Technological Education" was held as part of the ESI 2013. This kind of cooperation is organised several ways in different countries and it was interesting to all the participants to share their experiences on the international level.
